  • WHO I AM: I play jazz, classical, rock, country, and funk, but it’s more than that. I don’t just play ‘rock’, I play power-trio rock, I play dark-hearted rainy-night rock, I play beer swillin’ mechanical-bull riding country rock. I don’t just play ‘jazz’, I play wine-tinged sultry jazz, I play Carribbean-fused hip-swirling bossa jazz, I play back-beat whiskey-fueled big-band swing jazz. I don’t just play ‘funk’, I play…well, you get the idea.
  • WHAT I’VE DONE: I’ve performed across the United States and Canada, on both coasts, and internationally in Japan. All of the artists I’ve worked with are “notable”, in that they are talented, wonderful artists that deserve your attention, but, admittedly, some have a higher profile than others. To that end, some of the high-profile artists I’ve worked with include indie-rocker Kate Tucker, trip-hoppers Two Loons, folk-surfer Hayley Sales, and pop-jazzer Emi Meyer.
  • WHO LED THE WAY: On upright bass, I studied mainly with Sal Macchia, faculty at the University of Massachusetts, with supplementary lessons from John Hunter, faculty at the University of New Hampshire.
  • WHAT I USE: I play a 1993 5-string Modulus custom electric bass, and use Hartke and Genz-Benz amplifiers. My upright basses include a not-particularly-noteworthy Meisel factory model from the mid-80’s which has opened up wonderfully in the past 4 or 5 years which I use primarily for jazz, and a resonant 2006 Shen Willow for orchestral music. For effects, I enthusiastically recommend Source Audio!
